The City of Red Lake Falls is committed to excellent Public Health and Safety through its Streets and Public Utilities, we are pleased to provide an update on the 2019 Street and Utility Improvements project. The 2019 Street and Utility Improvement project will be resuming this week, as the project was unable to be completed last year.
Residents may have noticed some activity over the past few weeks as the Contractor has begun to mobilize in their equipment for this year’s work. The contractor has also been preparing for this years work over the past couple weeks by constructing an above ground temporary sewer bypass that will be used to temporarily bypass the sewer to the lagoons as the Contractor replaces the old sanitary sewer forcemain that goes to the lagoons. Once the work on the sanitary sewer forcemain begins, it is expected to take a couple weeks. During that time the above ground sewer bypass will be in operation.
In the coming days, crews will begin to install a temporary water supply system to homes, like the system that was installed last fall. The Contractor will work with the homeowners to coordinate temporary water installation.
Any areas that were disturbed in residents’ yards and the boulevards will be cleaned up and seeded for turf establishment. This will most likely not take place until towards June so that the landscaping contractor can mobilize and complete all the work in one trip. Likewise, patching of the road will take place at a later date to repair the areas where underground utility replacement took place.
As always, the scheduled work may change due to inclement weather. For the safety of the workers and the public, we ask that you be mindful of the construction traffic and activities, and please keep a safe distance.
Best Regards,
Dylan Brown PE,
City Engineer 701-412-5136
