The City of Red Lake Falls is committed to excellent Public Health and Safety through its Streets and Public Utilities, we are pleased to provide an update on the 2019 Street and Utility Improvements project.

This week’s construction has continued to progress with the contractor connecting water services on 3rd Street and along State Avenue. The watermain along 3rd Street was filled and is now prepared to be tested for pressure and bacteria. These tests will be done twice to verify results and if successful, the crew will begin to turn on the new water service for homes along 3rd Street and dismantling the temporary water. The watermain along State Avenue was also filled in preparation for next week’s pressure and bacteria testing. Lastly, a hydrant at State and 4th Street was installed and the watermain along State Avenue is now tied into 4th Street’s watermain.

Next week any remaining homes along 3rd Street who have not been connected to the new watermain will be connected. Testing for pressure and bacteria on State Avenue’s watermain will begin. If the new watermain on State Avenue passes these tests it will come into service and the temporary water for the block will be dismantled towards the end of the week. The watermain along Polk Avenue will begin to be installed as well. A second crew will arrive to start sanitary repairs and sanitary services. If necessary, a third crew will help with sanitary manhole replacements and sanitary services. As sanitary work continues, the other crew will focus on cutting in connections for the watermain on Polk and bursting.

As always, the scheduled work may change due to inclement weather. For the safety of the workers and the public, we ask that you be mindful of the construction traffic and activities, and please keep a safe distance.

Best Regards, Dylan Brown PE, City Engineer 701-412-5136
